 For all 2nd graders who love to sing, this is an introduction to singing in the chorus. Singers will learn the proper vocal technique for choral singing through vocal exercises and a wide variety of songs from classical to popular music.  If you love to carry a tune, this club is for you!

Kindergarten Music Making


This course is being offered to students in Kindergarten.  
Music is perfectly designed for developing children's listening skills.Good listening skills and school achievement go hand in hand.  In this course students will learn songs, play instruments, dance, play musical games and have lots and lots of fun!

3D Printing


 ​3D Printing club will use computer science to bring creativity to a whole new dimension. Club members will design their own 3D models by using cutting edge technology, and see up close how a 3D printer functions. If you can think it, you can print it!

Sweet Treats

 Sweet Treets is a deliciously enriching experience designed to engage young bakers and chefs as they learn about measurement, time management, problem solving, and chemistry while encouraging and supporting creativity. Coding


 Coding Club offers children a way to create their own interactive stories, games, and animations. Using developmentally appropriate programs, youngsters will not only develop computer animations, but will problem solve, design projects and communicate their ideas. Coding is a new literacy that allows children to express themselves through the computer.

Team Building

 Leadership skills and collaborating with team members are some of the most important 21st century skills that children can learn. Team Building club is designed to enhance a child's confidence and help build their voice when working in groups. Students will participate in races, creative challenges and scavenger hunts that are focused on team work. Team building activities are a great way to develop communication, problem solving skills, and learning to work with other students in a fun and engaging environment!

Cooking


 

 Future chefs will prepare a variety of recipes from appetizers to desserts, and snacks in between! Children will learn how to cook food safely, and enjoy their creations during each session. Cooking involves following directions, measurement, problem solving, and teamwork. Each chef learn recipes we so they can recreate the meals at home! Let's get COOKIN'!

Canvas Painting for Kids


 Canvas painting is a relaxed art class for children, that will teach them simple art techniques as they create a piece that is unique to them.   Inspiration will be all around them, as they choose their materials and tools for how they will create their art.  KCE artists will learn how to mix colors, layer colors, texturing, and various brush techniques.  Painters will learn as they let their creativity and confidence build.

Krafty Kids


 Arts and crafts are a fun way to promote creativity in children.  Perfect for beginning or experienced artists, Krafty Kids members will create original projects based on their skill level. Collage art, wall hangings and paper crafting are just a few of the many projects that will be worked on.

Word Play


 Word Play combines two of my favorite games: Scrabble and Word Winks.  Students will not only have the opportunity to increase their vocabulary, spelling, math and strategy skills through Scrabble, but will also discover idioms and learn to use deductive thinking and reasoning to solve Work Wink puzzles.  Not sure what a Word Wink is?  It’s a word puzzle where part of a phrase is hidden in the way the words are written.




Ready to try one?               is actually “Man Over Board.”  Students will use our “Eggspert” buzzers to chime in with the correct answer and trust me, these puzzles are addicting!Word Play is definitely a fun and social club that will have kids coming back for more!

Keys to Keyboarding


 Strong keyboarding skills are essential for children to succeed.  Whether you're communicating through an email, or writing a report, typing is an integral part of everyday life. The PARCC standardized testing will be taken exclusively on a computer, and proper typing technique will be a huge benefit to students.  In Kids Club’s Keys to Keyboarding children will learn and practice typing and word processing skills in an enjoyable and motivating way. This club is open for all levels of typers. Through fun games, challenging puzzles, and an enriching curriculum, children will build terrific typing skills.

Yoga, My Doll and Me!


​Yoga, My Doll and Me! will introduce children to the power of Yoga, and how to improve body coordination. Children will practice body movements with their favorite doll. This club will help children harness their energy, emphasize breathing power and focus on overcoming challenges. Children will also decorate a mini yoga mat for their doll!  A healthy body stimulates a healthy mind!

 Literacy skills are vital to understanding STEM concepts and will lead children to success across all subjects. In Story Time STEM club members will read a picture book and complete a STEM challenge, based on the story. For example, children will read The 3 Little Pigs and conduct the "Blow your house down!" challenge. By tying literacy and STEM together children will develop reading skills and be exposed to the wonderful world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Hands on Clay


Hands On Clay is a wonderful introduction to sculpting with clay.This class is designed for artists of all levels and abilities to help develop creative skills while working with clay. Children will decorate their completed projects using a variety of colorful glazes and underglazes.

Tabletop Gaming Club 



 Do you like Traditional boardgames? Are you a master Monopolizer? Are you a wizard at Magic (TCG)? A Seasoned Settler of Catan? A Hero of the Dungeon? Simply like board/card/tabletop games? This club is a social gathering for people interested in any and all forms of tabletop gaming such as RPGs and boardgames. Magic


​ Magic is a captivating art that entertains children and adults alike.  In Kids Club Magic children will master the basics of performing magic tricks, including: slight of hand, misdirections, card and coin tricks, and performance techniques. Areas  such as sequencing, problem solving, observation, and communication will be explored. Tricks will range from beginner to more advanced, and be child centered.  Each member will have an opportunity to perform tricks in front of their peers. Kids Club Magic goes beyond just pulling a "rabbit out of a hat."


 Club Members will receive a deck of playing cards to perform their tricks.

Minecraft Club


​ Minecraft is a computer based game where students create their own worlds using 3D blocks. There is no limit to where a student's imagination can take them in the realm of Minecraft.  In Kids Club's Minecraft Club students will be given the opportunity to build their own buildings, cities and structures.  Children will work independently and collaborate with other club members. This club will take place on a private and secure server.  This will allow the young engineers to visit and share their creations with others, and establish a community sparked from their imaginations.  Minecraft has huge educational benefits for children across numerous subjects. Minecraft Club is a stimulating, fun and motivational experience for all students.

Math Mania


 Math Mania is where math goes wild! Crazy activities like glow-in-the-dark geometry, cracking Secret Spy Codes, Bouncy Dice Explosion and competing in the Mathlete Olympics, will help kids enjoy math like never before. Every week kids will get fired up about exploring math through hands-on experiences. It's time to make math COOL again...math will never be the same!


Math Mania is designed for two different age ranges (K-2, and 3-4). Although the activities are not "schoolwork", the club does align with the Common Core Standards. The club also offers a range of material to stimulate mathematical thinking across varying abilities.

Choose Your Adventure


 If you loved Detectives Club or Team Builders, Choose Your Own Adventure brings together the best of both classes and so much more! Students will work together to complete mental and physical challenges to unlock their next destination. As the students continue through challenges they learn how each decision they choose leads to a different path.  All of the activities are math, science, literacy and puzzle based.  Each week students will be given a new set of themed challenges and choices that will engage and encourage learning and critical thinking skills.

KCE SharkTank is a place where ideas and solutions can come to life.  Students will have the opportunity to invent, build, improve, budget, and pitch ideas that they have and want to share.  Through this experience students will learn financial literacy, the power of persuasive language, and the importance of communication and collaboration.  Each week these young innovators will be inspired as their curiosity and creativity is encouraged and supported through learning stations and guided opportunity.

 Scrabble Club is a great opportunity for kids to increase their vocabulary, practice spelling, improve their computation skills, and learn to strategize all while playing a game with their friends!  During this club students will not only participate in traditional Scrabble competitions, but they will encounter mini-challenges as well, like word/letter scavenger hunts, word wars, and Scrabble Slam games.  This is a fun and social club that will have kids coming back for more!

Fantasy Football


 Fantasy Football is an interactive competition in which users compete against each other as general managers of virtual football teams.  Club members will draft NFL players, and maintain their team throughout each session.  Club time will be devoted to discussions about players, computation of football statistics, and debates about each member's team.  The goal of this course is to stimulate mathematical thinking and encourage positive and respectful peer interaction.

Food Science


 Food Science is a creative and fun way for students to use edible products to experiment, learn about biology, chemistry, and electricity. Students will explore and experiment with the DNA of a strawberry,  cook up their own rock candy, whip up homemade ice cream and use oranges to to power a light bulb all while learning about the scientific method and process of problem solving!

The Pulse of Movies:

Analyzing Short Films 



 Watch.  Analyze.  Understand.  Do you have a love of the silver screen?  The Pulse of Movies is designed to educate students to think critically about what they see in short films.  The language, structure, and entertainment value of short films can enhance the overall understanding of storytelling, the creative process, and form a deeper understanding of important social issues. The club is intended to help students interpret the visual information they encounter in daily life as well as learn important life lessons.

STEM Science


A STEM Club is a gathering of students that meet regularly in an informal environment to work on inquiry-based Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related activities.  In the course students will be given  a challenge/problem and materials to construct, investigate, and solve.  As students work together they will learn how to communicate, take risks, revise, persevere, and present their work.  Some of the great projects students will participate in are Rubberband Rockets, Magnetic Slime, Junk Boats, Marble Runs, and so much more.

Interior Design for Kids


 If you could redecorate, or create, any room in your house, which room would it be? Game room? Play room?    Dream room? Interior Design for Kids is a club that allows creative students to imagine, and build a model of their  ideal living space. Young decorators will brainstorm a room concept and create a shadow box, model scale of their  design. Kids will learn about colors, patterns and architecture. They will also budget for materials and present their  ideas with each other! This club is perfect for original thinkers who are style trendsetters!

Cupcakes for Kids

 Come and learn how to decorate cupcakes like a pro!  You'll  learn to mix a perfect icing, properly use a pastry bag, and create exciting cake decorations - from butterflies, to sunflowers, or an amazing owl...!  All students will take home cupcakes and icing recipes, tips to great cupcake decorating and of course a sample of their work.

Rowing Club


 Rowing Club will get everyone up and moving through the use of Concept2 rowing machines or ergometer (ERG).  Class will include a warm up, time on and off the rower, and body weight strength exercises.  In addition, participants will learn about stroke rate, heart rate monitoring, and the importance of cardio and strength exercise as a life long habit.  Each student will maintain a log book of meters rowed, stroke rate, and times to track progress. Rowing is an innovative and motivating way to stay fit and healthy! We will also discuss the basics of nutrition, and what the best foods are to fuel your body before and after a workout. (Sneakers are required for all classes).

 Get ready to create the world of a book in a story box. Story boxes allow children to recreate their favorite story in a shoe box. Children will create these story boxes using a variety of materials such as recycled cardboard, small figurines, clay, paint, drawings, and other accessories to help them bring their story to life. This club will allow children special opportunities to explore characters and settings in a story. Fitness Fun

Wiffle Ball


 Wiffle Ball club is all about FUN! Similar to baseball, this playground favorite is played with a plastic ball and bat. During Wiffle Ball club children will play games and compete in a weekly Home Run Derby contest. Batting statistics for each game will be calculated and uploaded on our website. Who will lead the league in hits? home runs? runs batted in? Anyone can join in and have a great time, regardless of ability and experience. Sign Language Club


 American Sign Language (ASL) is acknowledged as the official language of the deaf community.  Sign Language Club will offer students the opportunity to learn a new language in a fun and engaging way! Students will learn a bit about Deaf Culture and why people use ASL. Each week, children will play games as a teaching tool to learn aspects of the language and expand their ASL vocabulary. One of the great things about sign language is that it helps students develop a sense of self and expressing emotions. Students will also learn to use spacial orientation to give directions and locate different objects. Children will enjoy learning the ASL alphabet, signing their name, and signing a song!

 It's fun to follow trends, but sometimes you just want to be creative and make something yourself! Fashion Design is a creative course that will engage young fashionistas in designing and producing unique, wearable fashion accessories and clothing.  Children will plan and design their pieces, create them, and share their work with each other.  They will learn to sketch fashion figures, and design a portfolio to represent their original fashion vision. Video Game Club


 Video Game Club is the ideal place for Gamers to play, socialize and learn. Gamers will play current, and classic, popular games on Wii, Playstation, and other devices, while incorporating math, reading and problem solving skills. "Real Life" Minecraft


 ​"Real Life" Minecraft Club involves a hands-on study of rocks and minerals. Members will conduct scratch tests, learn about Moh's Scale of hardness, experiment with real minerals and discover the beauty of rocks.  No Creepers, TNT, or teleporting necessary!

Fantasy Baseball


 Fantasy Baseball is an interactive competition in which users compete against each other as general managers of virtual Baseball teams.  Club members will draft MLB players, and maintain their team throughout each session.  Club time will be devoted to discussions about players, computation of Baseball statistics, and debates about each member's team.  The goal of this course is to stimulate mathematical thinking and encourage positive and respectful peer interaction.

Detective Club


 Detective’s Club is designed around the idea that problem solving and inquiry push students’ thinking to a higher level.  In this club, students will participate in solving in a different mystery each week  As they learn to work together, our detectives will gather information through decoding the message, sort information, solve logic puzzles, and use inferential thinking. In order to reach conclusions, students will practice the following skills: organizing clues, combining and analyzing the information presented, using deductive reasoning, and using the process of elimination. Providing evidence to explain and express their opinions while producing a well stated argument helps learners become independent thinkers.

Guitar for Beginners


​ These lessons are designed for students who are interested in learning the basic chords of guitar.  Students will learn the fundamental skills and strategies of playing. Lessons will include proper hand placement and strumming, identifying melodies and introductory scales. By the end of 6 sessions students will be confident in chords C, G, Am, and F which are used in many popular songs.


 Class sizes are limited. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. 

 *Students are encouraged to bring their own guitar. If a student does not have a guitar KCE will supply an instrument that can be taken home for continued practice throughout the club.*

The Poetry Club


 The Poetry Club is perfect for children who are creative, original thinkers, who wish to express themselves.  During the club young writers will read various types of poetry to draw inspiration from and become acquainted with different poetic styles.  Children will bring their poems to life through illustrations, movement/dance, and even setting their poems to music. Our budding poets will also participate in an "Open Mic" poetry share, reading some of their favorite or original works.  So, if you're a poet...and you know it...join The Poetry Club, and show it!

 What’s better than being outside, playing games in your backyard? Backyard Games club is the ultimate place to play all of your favorite lawn games. Food Science


 Food Science is a creative and fun way for students to use food to experiment, learn about biology, chemistry, and electricity. Students will explore and experiment with the DNA of a strawberry,  cook up their own rock candy, whip up homemade ice cream and use oranges to to power a light bulb all while learning about the scientific method and process of problem solving!

KCE MAKER CLUB


 Join the Maker Movement with KCE's MAKER CLUB! Maker Spaces come in all shapes and sizes, offering opportunities for children to create, or make, different things. In KCE's MAKER CLUB children will be exposed to technologies like 3D printing, and electrical circuits. Children will design and print something from a 3D printer, and create circuits using different electrical kits. Using all types of materials (anything from cardboard and glue, to legos and balloons) and a variety of tools, children will construct unique projects. Sessions will be centered around creative challenges (both team and individual), tutorials using technologies, building models or projects, and individual exploration. Encouraging children to be innovators, strengthening their curiosity, and increasing their fearlessness will help them overcome future challenges. The inspiring, and playful environment will allow meaningful learning to unfold. Be a MAKER!

Zumba!


 Zumba is a club that incorporates hip hop elements with the salsa, mambo, and samba.  It is a total workout of cardio, balance, and flexibility. Children will learn how to properly stretch and warm-up, the steps for the salsa and mambo, as well as a routine incorporating everything they've learned.  Mrs. Ripston is a certified Zumba instructor who is motivated and excited to get students moving!

Pokemon Club


 Calling all Pokemon Trainers! KCE Pokemon Club is the spot to collect, share, discuss and play The Pokemon Trading Card Game. Literacy and mathematics skills will be enforced through learning, and playing the Trading Card Game. Club members will be taught rules of Pokemon TCG, how to set up decks, and gameplay strategies. Club members are encouraged to bring their Pokemon card collection to the club, but it is not necessary. Training decks will be available to use during the club. If you love Charizard, collecting Booster Packs, and training Pocket Monsters, then Pokemon Club is the perfect place for you!

 Minute to Win It is a club in which members will compete in 60 second challenges involving STEM skills, teamwork, and a ton of silliness. D.I.Y. Room Decor


 Own your space! Spend six weeks crafting a few fun additions for your at-home sanctuary. In this club, we will create wall art and more to transform your space from an average room to a fun space that reflects you. Students help determine what crafts the club members make. Here is a sampling of what we can create in 6 weeks: monogram wall art, a jewelry organizer, a t-shirt rag rug, a “dream” jar, and a photo frame display.

Edible Arts​

 Who says you can’t play with your food? Do you love delicious food? Do you enjoy crafting? If so, this is the club for you! Each week we will discover the world of art by reading about a topic and follow up by creating masterpieces with food. Not only will your artwork look amazing, it will taste fabulous too! Enjoy learning about a new topic each week through read alouds, crafting in class, and feasting at home.
